Doo Group is pleased to announce an extension of its successful partnership with UNICEF Hong Kong to continue purveying children’s rights to education. Since April 2022, Doo Group has begun its journey with UNICEF Hong Kong in supporting children’s education via the participation in the Schools for Asia program.
After a year of robust collaboration which had led to a big success, Doo Group decided to continue moving forward with UNICEF Hong Kong to empower more children in need all around the world.
Purveying Children’s Rights To Education In Times Of Uncertainty
As a global financial group driven by the principles of people-oriented and social inclusion, Doo Group always believes that education is the empowering force to create infinite possibilities. It breeds confidence, hope and a bright future.
Looking back at the journey with UNICEF Hong Kong over the past year, the Schools for Asia program has achieved a significant result in ensuring the continuation of learning in times of uncertainty through three aspects:
1. Digital Learning Solutions
UNICEF launched an innovative digital learning platform, “The Learning Passport”, to help out-of-school children grapple with the challenges brought by the COVID-19 outbreak. As of December 2022, the platform has accumulated more than 120,000 users across the East Asia and the Pacific Region. In total, 45,000 courses have been completed.
2. Adolescent Learning And Skills
UNICEF offers alternative ways of learning to adolescents who are out-of-school for various reasons, especially because of inequalities that originate in gender. Since there can be additional barriers for adolescent girls to stay in school, notably in countries where the education of adolescent girls can be perceived as less important than that of boys.
To break that barrier, one of the many things UNICEF and its ‘Schools for Asia’ programme has done is distributed 110,000 self-learning materials, trained 3,200 teachers on psychosocial support, and provided student kits to 5,800 adolescent girls in Nepal.
3. Education In Emergencies And Climate Change
As the continent of Asia includes some of the most disaster-affected areas, UNICEF is determined to provide continuity in education. For example, UNICEF expanded its comprehensive school safety program to 10 states, assisting 145,000 schools to build resilience against humanitarian and climatic shocks in India.
Forging Closer Ties To Empower Transformation
The ‘Schools for Asia’ programme was a great success in the past year. Together, Doo Group and UNICEF Hong Kong worked dedicatedly in unlocking children’s potential with continuous learning opportunities. It is the group’s honor to make a positive impact on the lives of underprivileged children. Every child should have access to a high-quality education as it helps them develop the necessary skills to support themselves and make wise decisions. An educated individual is ultimately better able to get through difficult times and contribute to the development of society.
Success is not a destination; it is the beginning of another whole new journey. Even though the ‘Schools for Asia’ programme has reached a great achievement, there are still many children in the world who have no access to learning due to poverty and marginalization. In realizing this, Doo Group decided to continue a successful partnership with UNICEF Hong Kong for the next two years.
Over the next two years, Doo Group will be engaging in another UNICEF program – “Reimagine Education”. The new partnership is expected to help children affected by the pandemic to continuously learn with digital solutions. As of 2021, more than 500 million children and youth have gained access to world-class digital learning solutions.
The successful extension of the partnership between Doo Group and UNICEF Hong Kong marks another new milestone in children empowerment. Together with UNICEF Hong Kong, Doo Group strives to reach greater achievements.
